Fig Street Inn is a fully renovated, boutique−style inn located in Cape Charles, Virginia. Your innkeepers, Donna & Greg purchased the property in February 2010 after it had been vacant for many years and have done extensive renovations and updates to create a unique lodging experience for the Eastern Shore. They continue to make improvements to the property as guest needs change, and to keep the inn fresh and interesting for returning guests.

Donna & Greg are both from New York State (Donna from Manhattan, and Greg from Buffalo) and lived in Boston, MA when first married. They purchased their first bed and breakfast in Jamestown, Rhode Island in 2003 and operated that property for 6 years. They have taken their experience and expertise, and feedback from guests, to design a continually developing inn travelers will appreciate. Fig Street Inn offers modern amenities with the comforts and conveniences of home.

Prior to owning bed & breakfasts, Donna worked in marketing and event planning, and Greg worked in the pharmaceutical industry in research and development. Donna studied pastry arts at The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts in Cambridge, MA and worked for a 5−star hotel in Boston, as well as for an award−winning wedding cake designer.

In their quieter season, Donna & Greg provide interim innkeeping services to other small independent lodging properties around the United States. Donna has worked for 6 to 35 room properties in Asheville, NC, Gettysburg, PA, and Napa, CA. In Winter 2021, Donna & Greg spent 2 months working for Lake Placid Stagecoach Inn, a 5-room Select Registry inn that also offers vacation rentals.

Donna & Greg live on property with their teenage child, while their oldest attends school out of state. Jett is their resident cat who likes to hang out in the library on the couch, but does not have access to guest rooms.

About the House

The large white home at the corner of Fig Street and Tazewell Avenue was built in 1899 as the personal residence for the W.B. Wilson family, owners of Cape Charles’ early hardware and department stores. At the time, the house was located outside the town’s boundaries which ended on the other side of Fig Street and the home's main entrance faced Fig Street.

This grand home had been operated as a bed & breakfast since the 1990s. The home then remained vacant for about 5 years until reopened in 2011 as Fig Street Inn. Donna and Greg are the 4th family to call this corner of Fig and Tazewell "home". It is the largest residential lot in the Town of Cape Charles at just under one acre.
