About the Owners
Fig Street Inn is a newly−renovated, boutique−style inn located in Cape Charles,
Virginia. Your innkeepers, Donna & Greg purchased the property in February 2010 after it
had been vacant for many years and have done extensive renovations and updates to create a unique
lodging experience for the Eastern Shore.
Donna & Greg come to Cape Charles from Jamestown, Rhode Island where they owned and operated
an award−winning and successful bed & breakfast for 6 years. They have taken their
experience and expertise, and feedback from guests, to design an inn travelers will appreciate.
Fig Street Inn offers modern amenities with the comforts and conveniences of home.
Prior to owning bed & breakfasts, Donna worked in marketing and event planning and Greg
worked in the pharmaceutical industry in research and development. Donna studied pastry arts at
The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts in Cambridge, MA and worked for a 5−star property in
Boston, as well as for an award−winning wedding cake designer.
Although not a trained chef, Greg is typically the one cooking breakfast. Full homemade
breakfast is served each morning from 8:30-9:30 am. Breakfast is a
pre−set menu of hot entree such as omelette, french toast, pancakes, or quiche,
breakfast meats, fresh seasonal fruit, homemade pastry, and juice, tea and coffee. For those
preferring lighter fare, a selection of cereals is always available. Please inform us of any
dietary restrictions prior to arrival and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.
History of the House
Fig Street Inn was built in 1899 as the personal residence for the W.B. Wilson family, owners
of Cape Charles’ early hardware and department stores. At the time, the house was located
outside the town’s boundaries which ended on the other side of Fig Street.
This grand home had been operated as a bed & breakfast called
“King’s Creek Plantation” in the 1990s. The home then remained vacant for
about 5 years until reopened in 2011 as Fig Street Inn.
